چکیده

Background Extracellular volume fraction (ECV) calculation requires myocardial and blood T1 measurements to be acquired preand post-contrast administration. T1 star (T1*) may offer a more accurate estimation of blood pool T1 as it avoids look-locker correction, and so is theoretically a more robust measure of blood T1 where fresh spins are flowing into the image plane. Reproducibility of blood T1 and T1* has not been as extensively explored as myocardial T1. We compared the precision and reproducibility of blood T1* using a Modified LookLocker Inversion recovery sequence (MOLLI), against standard T1 measurements.

Clinical application of MOLLI T1* for extracellular volume calculation in healthy volunteers and aortic stenosis

Background The calculation of the extracellular volume fraction (ECV) requires accurate quantification of myocardial and blood pool T1. Some Modified look locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) sequences provide a T1 and T1* output. T1* does not use a look locker correction, and so it is theoretically a more accurate estimation of true T1 blood T1 because fresh spins are flowing into the imaging pla...

Myocardial T1-mapping at 3T using saturation-recovery: reference values, precision and comparison with MOLLI

BACKGROUND Myocardial T1-mapping recently emerged as a promising quantitative method for non-invasive tissue characterization in numerous cardiomyopathies. Commonly performed with an inversion-recovery (IR) magnetization preparation at 1.5T, the application at 3T has gained due to increased quantification precision. Alternatively, saturation-recovery (SR) T1-mapping has recently been introduced...

Myocardial T1 and extracellular volume fraction measurement in asymptomatic patients with aortic stenosis: reproducibility and comparison with age-matched controls.

AIMS (i) To establish the test-retest reproducibility of myocardial T1 and extracellular volume (ECV) fraction measurement in asymptomatic patients with moderate-severe aortic stenosis (AS), (ii) to compare reproducibility using motion-corrected (MOCO) parametric T1 maps for analysis vs. full MOLLI series of images, and (iii) to compare T1 and ECV between patients and age-matched controls. Blood T1 measurements using slice-interleaved T1 mapping (STONE) sequence

Background Slice interleaved T1 (STONE) mapping sequence was recently proposed to take advantage of increased recovery time of spins to improve accuracy and precision of native myocardial T1 values. In this sequence, a nonselective inversion pulse is followed by acquisition of the data for different slices. Therefore, blood pool may experience different recovery time at different slice location...

Age and sex corrected normal reference values of T1, T2 T2* and ECV in healthy subjects at 3T CMR

BACKGROUND Myocardial T1, T2 and T2* imaging techniques become increasingly used in clinical practice. While normal values for T1, T2 and T2* times are well established for 1.5 Tesla (T) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR), data for 3T remain scarce. Therefore we sought to determine normal reference values relative to gender and age and day to day reproducibility for native T1, T2, T2* mapp...
